Paragliding in Marrakech: the short guide

The flying site: Aguergour

The take-off is on the Aguergour ridge, in the Ouzguita hills, about 45 kilometres from the medina. It sits above Lalla Takerkoust lake, on the first slopes of the High Atlas.

The shape of the ridge and the regular breeze give calm and steady air for most of the year, which is exactly what you want for a passenger flight.

What you see from up there

The lake first, then the fields and olive groves of the plain, small Berber villages with flat roofs, and the Atlas wall behind you. In winter the peaks are white, in spring the hills turn green for a few weeks, and in autumn the light at the end of the day is the best of the year.

When to come

Spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, are the most comfortable seasons. Summer is fine too, but we fly early in the morning or at the end of the afternoon to avoid the strong midday air.

Winter flights are often the clearest of all, with snow on the High Atlas behind you. Bring a jacket and gloves.

How to organise your day

Most people fly in the morning and are back in Marrakech for lunch. If you are staying in the medina, the easiest is the Flight + Transfer option: we pick you up and bring you back.

If you drive yourself, use the road to Lalla Takerkoust and then on to Aguergour village, where we meet you. The last kilometres up the hill are a track, and we drive that part in the 4x4.
